The World Series of Poker 2022 was one of the most highly-anticipated events in the world of poker, and it did not disappoint. Taking place in the gambling capital of the world, Las Vegas, from May 31 to July 20, the 53rd WSOP brought together thousands of players from around the globe, all with the same goal: to become the champion of the most prestigious tournament in the world of poker.

Organized by the renowned Caesars Entertainment Corporation, the WSOP is considered the pinnacle of the poker calendar, drawing in the best players from all corners of the earth. But in the end, it was Norway’s Espen Jørstad who emerged victorious, taking home the coveted title of WSOP Champion and a whopping $10 million in prize money. The Cheating Scandal that Shocked the Poker World: Hustler Casino Live Show 2022

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) always manages to draw attention from the poker community, but in 2022, it wasn’t only the Main Event that caused a stir. The Hustler Casino Live Show was rocked by a cheating scandal that captivated the industry and became one of the most talked-about stories of the year.

The incident occurred during a match between legend Garrett Adelstein and newcomer Robbi Jade Lew. Adelstein was defeated by a questionable move from Lew, losing a $250k pot. Outraged, Adelstein walked off the show and accused Lew of being part of a cheating ring. This led to a chain of legal threats, lie detector tests, investigations, and even police involvement. The story quickly gained widespread attention, and the poker community eagerly followed the succeeding developments.

The owners of Hustler Casino Live recently released a report on the incident, stating that there was no evidence of cheating on the show. However, the report acknowledged that due to inadequate security measures, the possibility of cheating existed. The incident has sent shockwaves through the poker community, highlighting the importance of strong security measures to protect the integrity of the game.

Justice for Susie Q: Convicted Sex Offender Sentenced to Life for Brutal Killing of Professional Poker Player

The poker community was shocked and mourning when professional poker player Susie “Susie Q” Zhao, a talented and respected player, was brutally murdered in 2020. Susie had amassed over $222,000 in gambling winnings before her tragic death, which was a great loss for the industry.

The 33-year-old high-stakes card player, who lived in Los Angeles, had recently relocated to Michigan to live with her parents as she was “confronting issues in her personal life.” She was last seen alive on July 12, 2020, by her parents at around 5:30 p.m. The following day, her badly charred body was found in a small parking lot used by hikers at the Pontiac Lake Recreation Area on the outskirts of Detroit. The Deputy Medical Examiner, Dr. Andrew Hanosh, stated that she was sexually assaulted, burned alive, and had her hair burned off.

Last year in 2022, convicted sex offender Jeffery Morris was finally brought to justice and sentenced to life in prison for the savage rape and murder of Susie Q. This tragic event serves as a reminder that heinous crimes can still occur within the poker industry and highlights the importance of safety and security for all players. Susie was proud to be an outsider in a male-dominated field; in her social media posts, she wrote, “I prance like a unicorn in a sea of horses … I proficiently play high-stakes poker for a living. It’s kinda weird because I’m a girl.” Her memory will continue to be honored and respected by the poker community.

It’s a great solace that the perpetrator has been brought to justice, and the community can now grieve and remember Susie for the talented and respected player she was.

The Rise of Cash Game Streaming: New Way to Enjoy High-Stakes Poker Action

Tournaments have long been the most popular style of poker game, with spectators captivated by the thrill of watching players compete for supremacy and the chance to take home a sizable cash award and a prize-winning trophy. However, in 2022, a new trend has emerged in the world of poker streaming: cash game streaming.

Cash game streaming started gaining traction in 2021, thanks to some wild high-stakes action at the Super High Roller Bowl Europe festival and the highly-popular stream of Leon Tsoukernik’s High Stakes Cas$h King$, which featured the casino owner winning a massive €740,000 Pot-Limit Omaha pot.

The trend continued in early 2022 with the Live at the Bike stream, where viewers were treated to some truly thrilling action. One of the highlights was the $205,300 pot in which Matt Berkey broke aces, setting the tone for the remainder of the year.

Throughout the year, the Live at the Bike webcast continued to provide exciting action, with highlights such as Eric Persson’s flush-completing card accidentally giving Eric Hicks quad aces in a ridiculous $290,000 cooler hand in August. The growing popularity of cash game streaming has provided poker fans with a new way to enjoy the thrill of high-stakes action, and it shows no signs of slowing down.
