Who won the World Series of Poker last month?

Posted on: September 23, 2019

Born in Iran, the Iranian-German Poker player Hossein Ensan won the World Series of Poker in 2019. He beat Sammartino, who is considered one of the best poker players in the world. He bagged 10 million USD for the main event, besting 8,569 players. In the world of Poker, this is rare since there is very few non-American nationals dominating the competitions. It is probably due to the fact that Poker is well-loved by Americans more than any other nationalities.

What makes Ensan’s win more interesting is not the winning hand, not the competition, not even the play. It is the fact that this poker genius is 55 years old. In comparison to other players, he is relatively older. The usual trend nowadays is poker tables being flocked by younger generations. It is quite exhilarating to see older players win for a change!

This proves that Poker is a game for all ages. It does not matter whether you are a recent college graduate, a retiree, a middle-aged businessman. The game is there for everyone to enjoy. No matter who you are, where you are from, the table welcomes you with open arms.
