The World Series of Poker (WSOP), the longest-running, most luxurious and most prestigious tournament series, celebrates its 50th year with over $200 million in prize money awaiting thousands of poker players!
The 50th WSOP, which runs until July 16, is being held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
The stakes are higher in the seven-week, 24-hour tournament with buy-ins worth $400 to $100,000 for a seat at one of the 500 tables.
As it marks its 50th year of running, the WSOP will hold a celebratory gala and awards evening on June 29, Saturday.
This year’s event expected to break records with over 100,000 players from all over the country and across the globe to win a championship bracelet, and the prize money.
Last year, a record 123,865 participants played for a share of $266.89 million in prize money. Of the total,18,105 winners took a cut, with 28 players taking home at least $1 million.
Meanwhile, last ‘year’s world champion of the “No-limit Hold-em” tournament bagged $8.8 million.

Started in 1970 by former Dallas resident Benny Binion as an exclusive event, the World Series of Poker has become the gaming ‘industry’s premier event, attracting participants from over 100 countries.
Since it was founded 50 years ago, it has already awarded nearly $3 billion in prize money.
